We named this house "Villa Otium" which refers to a concept imagined in Antiquity. Otium refers to the time of rest, relaxation, leisure. It is free time devoted to contemplation, study, art, and oneself. This house is a suitable place to practice this life experience. It is a calm, peaceful place, offering a view of a generous and romantic nature. The house is open to the outside with many windows and natural light.
We wanted to extend the vocation of this house, built in 1906, which was originally designed as a vacation home. The interior has been completely renovated with the aim of combining modern comforts with elements that echo the past. Set in a wooded park, the spacious house offers an ideal setting for a peaceful and comfortable stay with friends or family.
It is located in Bourgueil, a small town of about 4,000 inhabitants, known for both its abbey and its vineyards. Situated on the border between Touraine and Anjou, its castles, medieval towns, wines, and the Loire River are many sites to discover.
The house can welcome up to 10 people (9 adults and 1 child), and offers four comfortable bedrooms, each with its own bathroom, and warm living areas. The kitchen and dining room are designed to be convivial.
The decor is intentionally simple and uncluttered, with a layout designed to promote calm, featuring reading corners and comfortable lounges. This house is a place where, alone or with others, reconnect, dream, meditate, reflect, write, and create. It is with this spirit in mind that the renovation and decoration were imagined
On the ground floor, you'll find a fully equipped kitchen (double refrigerator, freezer, induction hob, bean-to-cup coffee maker, microwave), a cozy dining room for 10 people opening onto the garden, a relaxation lounge with a piano, and a second living room with a television, Chromecast, and board games. A WC completes this floor.
Upstairs, four bedrooms with double beds (160x200), one of which has an additional single bed, each bedroom comes with a private bathroom with a shower, sink, toilet, and heated towel rail.
A laundry room with a washer-dryer is also available.
Outside, there's a terrace overlooking the garden, equipped with garden furniture, a charcoal barbecue, and a children's playhouse.
The parking lot can accommodate up to four vehicles and includes an electric car charger.
